Understanding Federal Income Guidelines
In determining financial need for scholarships, preference will be given to serving those candidates from households who are eligible for the Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program or are earning not more than 60% of the US median income as determined by Federal guidelines per region (SMSA).
To help you understand the Federal Guidelines, here are some instructions and examples.
1) First, click the button above to open the Federal Home Income Limits page.
2) Next, select your state from the list of HOME Income Limits documents on the page.
3) From here, you’ll see a document with a grid of information. Scroll to find your town or county.
4) Once you’ve located your town or county on the page, you can determine the limits that apply to you by looking at the row labeled 60% LIMITS and the column which represents the number of people in your household which are employed. Below are a couple of examples.
EXAMPLE #1
If you as an applicant are living in Fall River, Massachusetts and your household has two people who are employed and two people who are not employed, your annual household income should not exceed $67,440.
EXAMPLE #2
If you as an applicant are living in Jacksonville, Florida and your household has one person who is employed and three people who are not employed, your annual household income should not exceed $58,380.
